Overview

The 2026 Mississippi State Fair runs October 8-18 in Jackson. Its mix of livestock, midway attractions, food, and indoor shopping makes it possible to build very different visits: a short family outing, an evening concert trip, or several days of exploring. The important distinction for budgeting is between gate admission, rides, and separately ticketed entertainment.

This guide uses current announcements where available. The organizer’s FAQ still carries a 2025 heading, so older accessibility policies and food traditions are identified as reference rather than silently presented as a complete 2026 program.

October 2026 calendar highlighting Mississippi State Fair dates October 8 through 18
Original State Fair Scout calendar based on the organizer’s announced 2026 dates. Individual attraction hours vary.

2026 dates, location, and hours

The official fair website confirms October 8-18. The authorized 2026 ticket listing places the event at the Mississippi State Fairgrounds, 1207 Mississippi Street, Jackson. The run spans two full weekends, October 10-11 and October 17-18, with opening day on Thursday.

Daily gate and midway hours have not been verified for this guide. Do not substitute the fairgrounds’ office hours or last year’s opening times. Before choosing a morning arrival, check the day’s program: admission availability, building access, ride operation, and a concert start are separate schedules.

Admission, presale savings, and the Patriot Pass

The Department of Agriculture and Commerce’s 2026 announcement, republished by EIN Presswire, lists an $8 presale and $10 regular admission beginning October 8. Check the actual order total and current availability through the fair’s ticket link before paying.

The official fairgrounds calendar also advertises the $20 Patriot Pass. The announcement specifies admission on three separate days, with one scan per day. That is a multi-day product, not three admissions for a group arriving together. We have not verified transferable-pass terms.

For someone paying the announced regular rate, three single-day visits would total $30, compared with $20 for the pass. Two regular visits also total $20; the pass only creates an extra saving if you use the third day. Against three $8 presale tickets, the difference is $4 before any fees. These comparisons do not include rides or food.

Current child-age exemptions, senior rates, and the full daily discount calendar still need confirmation. The 2025 FAQ is not sufficient evidence for a 2026 lunchtime free-entry offer. Keep a copy of the exact ticket terms and avoid buying a ride package until you know who in your group wants to ride.

Parking and transportation to the fairgrounds

Parking remains free in the 2026 announcement. This describes fair parking, not permission to use any surrounding private lot. The campus map page is useful for orientation, but check the map’s year and follow current traffic instructions for the entrance you intend to use.

The older 2025 official FAQ says designated accessible spaces require a qualifying plate or hangtag and that overnight parking is prohibited. Reconfirm the current entrance and vehicle arrangements if you need accessible parking, drive an oversized vehicle, or hope to remain after a late show.

No dedicated 2026 public shuttle or rideshare pickup point has been verified here. For a taxi or app-based ride, ask the organizer for the permitted drop-off gate instead of selecting an arbitrary point inside the grounds. Make the return plan before entering, including a meeting place that everyone can identify without relying on a moving location pin.

Food highlights and the Biscuit Booth tradition

One distinctly Mississippi starting point is the Biscuit Booth. An official June 2025 announcement (PDF) describes agriculture-department employees making buttermilk biscuits from scratch and handing them out without charge. This is documented fair history, not confirmation of the booth’s 2026 hours, location, or offer.

A complete current concession menu was not available in the reviewed sources. The 2026 vendor information page contains exhibitor applications; an application is not proof that a particular stand has been accepted. We therefore are not attaching invented vendors or prices to a list of fried-food favorites.

For a food-focused visit, leave room for three different stops: a substantial meal, a sweet snack to share, and a regional item you would not ordinarily order at home. Once the visitor food map appears, group those stops around an exhibit or show instead of repeatedly crossing the grounds. Compare portion sizes before ordering several large dishes.

Ask each stand about ingredients and preparation if anyone has a dietary restriction. A dish’s name or a vendor’s presence on an official list does not establish how that food is prepared or whether it suits a particular allergy.

Accessibility and sensory planning

The 2025 FAQ permitted service animals and identified baby-changing facilities in restrooms. It does not provide enough current detail to promise wheelchair rentals, a particular accessible route, or a 2026 quiet-space schedule.

The 2025 department announcement also documented a Disability-Friendly Day with sensory tents and adapted activities. Its October 7 date belongs to 2025; do not use it to plan a 2026 visit. A new date and registration process have not been verified here.

For individual arrangements, use the fair’s published inquiry email, msstatefairgrounds@mdac.ms.gov. Ask about your intended entrance, the route to your chosen attraction, accessible restrooms, and any equipment collection point. For a Coliseum concert, confirm seating and companion arrangements before completing the ticket purchase.

Entertainment and a practical first-visit plan

The 2026 announcement names Flo Rida on October 15 at 7 p.m. in the Mississippi Coliseum, with concert admission including fair entry. It also announces local-band performances, the Flying Fools High Dive, and Royal Legacy Circus as included attractions. Check the official entertainment links for current ticket availability and performance details.

For an alternative to a ride-heavy day, the official fairgrounds calendar confirms an indoor Marketplace during the fair, featuring crafts and other vendors. Pair an indoor browsing stop with one scheduled performance, then keep the remaining time flexible. A short list of priorities is more manageable than trying to see every attraction in one circuit.

Start by checking your must-see event, then choose admission and transportation around it. Keep the final hour free of tightly timed commitments so that collecting purchases, returning equipment, and finding your vehicle do not become a rushed finish. For another autumn option, compare the Arkansas State Fair guide; its dates and ticket rules are separate.

Mississippi State Fair FAQs

Is the fair in Jackson?

Yes. Use the Mississippi State Fairgrounds address above, then follow the current fair entrance signs rather than assuming every venue driveway is open.

Does the Patriot Pass cover three people?

The announced terms describe three separate days and one scan per day. Do not treat it as a same-day family bundle.

Are the biscuits and accessibility-day details confirmed for 2026?

Not yet in the sources reviewed here. Those sections identify their 2025 evidence so you can distinguish a documented tradition from a current reservation or offer.
