Kentucky State Fair dates, address, and hours
The organizer’s 2026 visit announcement confirms the August 20-30 event. The destination is Kentucky Exposition Center, 937 Phillips Lane, Louisville, KY 40209. Check the actual entrance instructions below rather than assuming every gate is available.
The official hours page distinguishes the 7 a.m. gate opening from exhibit and ride hours. On August 26 and 27, exhibit halls run 9 a.m.-8 p.m. and ordinary Thrill Ville hours are 3-10 p.m. On the final Sunday, August 30, exhibit halls close at 6 p.m.; the North Wing and Equine Exhibit are listed as closed, even though outdoor activity continues later.
That makes an indoor-first itinerary especially useful on the final day. Arriving at the gate early does not mean the midway or every exhibit is operating. Consult the date-specific schedule before setting off.
Admission, ride passes, and expired discounts
The official ticket page advertises admission starting at $12 per person and free admission for children five and younger. Its parking-included language specifically refers to advance admission. Confirm the exact product and any charges at checkout; do not assume every gate purchase or special ticket includes vehicle parking.
The $9 Kroger advance offer ended August 19. Military Sunday on August 23, $5 Monday on August 24, and Senior Day on August 25 are also past. Those offers should not be used to budget an August 26-30 visit.
Ride pricing needs particular care: the ticket page displays a $30 Thrill Ville headline, while the official FAQ lists $35 beginning August 20. Treat $35 as the more date-specific published reference and verify the actual purchase screen before paying. Gate admission and a ride wristband are separate purchases unless a product explicitly bundles them.
Before buying a family group’s tickets, decide who plans to ride and which paid events are priorities. A non-rider does not need the same package as someone spending the afternoon on the midway. Compare the final total rather than the first advertised number, and keep the confirmation accessible on your phone.
Parking, entrances, and rideshare
The fair’s directions page lists Gate 1 at Phillips Lane and Freedom Way, Gate 4 on Crittenden Drive, and Gate 6 on Preston Highway. Gate 2 is temporarily closed. This matters if a saved route or an older guide sends you to that entrance.
Follow the current signs and parking staff once you reach the complex. If your ticket includes parking, have it ready before entering the vehicle queue. We have not verified a single parking-only price that applies to every 2026 ticket and arrival arrangement, so none is presented here as universal.
The FAQ places the designated rideshare area near Gate 1. Plan to meet your driver at the marked pickup location rather than attempting a pickup from whichever door you exit. The official food-vendor guide identifies the BIG Tent as a useful starting point for Kentucky Proud food. That gives you a focused meal stop rather than an aimless search across the grounds.

Choose whether you want a Kentucky-products meal or a novelty-food tasting before joining a queue. Sharing one rich dessert can be more practical than ordering a separate large portion for everyone immediately after lunch. For dietary requirements, speak directly with the stand about ingredients and preparation. A familiar food name does not establish how it is cooked or whether equipment is shared. Keep a second suitable meal option in mind so a sold-out item does not derail the visit.
Accessibility, rentals, and sensory support
The fair’s FAQ describes ramp access to buildings, accessible restrooms, and mobility rentals through Scooter Time Rentals on the West Lawn near Lot N. Lot N, between the midway and Kentucky Kingdom, is identified for accessible parking. Confirm equipment availability and the route from your entry gate before arriving.
The entertainment guide says midway operator Kissel Entertainment has KultureCity sensory-inclusive training and that sensory bags are available at the Welcome Center. This is useful support, but it does not mean the entire grounds are quiet or that every attraction has the same access requirements.
Sensory Awareness Day is listed for August 26, 10 a.m.-noon. The ticket page says admission and ride tickets for that program are distributed through community partners; it is not advertised as an unrestricted free-admission offer for every walk-up visitor. Start by choosing an indoor priority such as the agricultural displays or county exhibits highlighted in the organizer’s visit announcement. Put that before an outdoor meal, then use the live entertainment schedule to decide whether you want to stay into the evening. Keep the final Sunday’s earlier exhibit closing time in mind.
The Texas Roadhouse Concert Series and listed family activities are included with fair admission, according to the entertainment guide. The World’s Championship Horse Show is a distinct event; its ticket terms should be checked separately. A concert, horse-show session, and general admission are not interchangeable products.
Livestock schedules also change during the run. The hours page lists different dates for different species, so do not promise children that every barn will contain the same animals on every day. Check the species and competition you want before deciding when to attend.
